On The Road

Never thought I could ever love a man
Working that guitar like no one can
I must have been your dedicated fan
Adoring you in many ways, except in bed
We never went that far
I would never go there now
Yet I’m wondering how
I recognized you after eight long years
You’ve grown so much older
While I’ve grown so much wiser
I couldn’t get myself to say hello
You were waiting for your ride
It wouldn’t be the time
To catch up on old times
You had your beige coat on
Your hair still grey on the side
With brushes of black
That’s what I loved
I used to fall for that
But alas
I’m driving away
Not being able to look at your pretty face
Once more
One last time
