Ode to Parents

I remember how you used to be
Keeping an eye on me so cautiously
You  used to sing to me everyday
How could I disobey
I was afraid of you
Cause that’s what daughters do
I was born in May
On a beautiful sunny day
I was a gift to you both
If only you then would know
What a pain in the ass I could be
The heartbreaks I would bring the family
We all know what a great fan grandma is of me
And it’s mostly my fault, I believe
No matter her harsh words
I am still your baby girl
You have taught me well, I must say
I turned out to be quite okay
