I thought
But then again
I might be the special one

I realized…

People are watching us
But I know they envy us

She’s a little too pretty

Perhaps a little too friendly with you
But she is your childhood friend

Least I thought you were
You turn around to face me
Then finally our eyes meet
My heart skipped a beat
I’m still head over heels
In love with this man
But I learn the hard way
All good things come to an end
Then you sit me down and tell me
You’re in love with someone else

Most of all we had each other

But damn, how we ended things

I hated you for a while
Then I blamed myself
Then I blamed the world

I don’t know why

Years passed us by
We never talked
You never called

I guess you’ve got yourself a family
Vanilla skies and white picket fences
Somehow I just don’t get it

I wonder what you tell your kids
How you teach them about moralities
If you would ever talk about me

Like you did in school
I know we were young then
But you were such a child then

So I let the years pass us by

Simple

You turn to me with weary eyes
A blank stare it almost seems
You had lived a long difficult life
A life in which you didn’t feel free
A life without the fame and fortune
A life without the prosperities you had longed for
A life full of regrets and looking back
Then you whisper softly to me
“If only life were that simple,
“If life had treated me better,
I would have enjoyed it much more”
“But isn’t life as simple as we make it to be?”
I ask myself secretly
I can tell you find it difficult to realize
Not having the perfect life
Not being the perfect housewife
Not baring a single child
You die alone in a cold unmade bed
Alone in a foreign country
Without a family
Without any good old memories
Without a home
Or even a house
Life could have been simple
If only you had made it simple

I Want You

I want you so badly
I want you so bad my dear
Why won’t you come ’round?

I want to call you
I want to call you my dear
Why won’t you pick up?

I want to tell you
I want to tell you something
I love you my dear

 

I Don’t Know Myself Anymore

I know you’d like to visit me for a while
But instead let’s get away, out of this small town
You know, I’m actually happy you called
I guess someone had to be the first to break
You can come by the house
Relax
Talk about anything
Maybe finally work things out
Deep down inside I must have forgiven you

But even I don’t know myself anymore
I don’t even recognize this place
The picture frames have changed, but this feeling remains the same
We don’t talk much anymore
We keep running from the pain
Oh what I wouldn’t give to see you again

Springtime in the city
But it feels different here
I guess it isn’t quite the same without you
In fact, nothing has been the same without you
Everyone’s so busy these days
Just keep that chin up, we’ll be all right
I can’t believe what a year it’s been
Are you still the same?
Has your opinion changed?

1. I was born and raised and still live right here in Amsterdam, the Netherlands
2. I am afraid of spiders, but not rats though
3. I might come off as a pessimist, but I like to call myself a realist who likes to have fun! (which might sound weird putting it like that..)
4. When I was younger I fell into the water and somehow just froze up and couldn’t swim up.. since then I gave up swimming altogether
5. I love indian and mexican food
6. The combination of sugar and coffee makes me tired!!
7. I am lactose intolerant (though mildly, fortunately) but I LOVE icecream…

My lover’s gone
But I’m still here
Right here without him near
Alone in the dark
In denial of what we are
Thinking about what we used to be
Wishing and praying he’d call me
Telling me he’s made a mistake
Taking back yesterday
My lover’s gone
No him to keep me safe and warm
He took away his stuff
He took away my heart
My lover’s gone
I hope he won’t be out long
Cause he’ll be missing me soon
No more me beside him under the moon
So he’ll be home soon
Then I can tell him
That I’ll be the one who’s leaving
I’ll be the one with the last word
Too bad my lover’s gone…
